Lead Municipal Engineer/Infrastructure Group Manager

 Resource is looking for a licensed civil engineer who has the professional design management and administration skills to step into a company leadership role focusing on water and wastewater infrastructure.   

 The Role

The role requires direct interaction with clients, scope projects, negotiating contracts, and taking projects through concept, design, bidding, and construction.  The successful applicant will be responsible for and participate in the design of water distribution systems, wells, water tanks, wastewater collection systems, wastewater treatment systems, and pump stations.  The role will require coordination with subconsultants for structural and electrical plans.  This position requires thorough knowledge of engineering practices and techniques, experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D being a plus.  The role will be required to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and principles.

 The successful applicant should have experience leading projects and performing customer service and marketing tasks to develop and generate work.  The successful applicant will also have the engineering skills and experience to actively implement engineering solutions, assist clients with grant applications to State and Federal agencies and prepare feasibility analyses and reports.

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage and actively participate in the engineering of projects for infrastructure projects including feasibility studies, engineering design, and construction administration.

  • Manage both office and field staff.

  • Prepare technical approach plans and direct employees in the execution of project work including the sealing of documents.

  • Foster cooperative internal working relationships with company principals, project managers, and engineers.

  • Create and maintain working relationships with clients and potential clients to obtain new work. 

  • Become a resource for clients to depend on to solve problems and deliver answers.

  • Prepare proposals, and monthly invoicing and be responsible for project financial performance.  

 Job Requirements:   

  • Licensed to practice Civil Engineering in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Experience with the design and construction administration of Municipal infrastructure projects.

  • Experience with local government procurement and construction processes.

  • Experience with grant applications and administration for local project funding.

  • Convey a positive and professional image to internal and external contacts.  

  • Supervise engineering personnel. 

  • Work interdependently within a team environment.  

Qualifications, Experience, and Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Professional Engineering Licensure, in good standing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience of field/office combined, or related experience.  

  • 3 to 5+ years in project management and supervisory role.
